Sheila Nirenberg, PhD

Dr. Nirenberg is the Nanette Laitman Professor of Neuroscience at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She works in the field of neural coding, developing new kinds of prosthetic devices that can communicate directly with the brain, and new kinds of smart robots. Dr. Nirenberg has won numerous awards for her innovations, including a MacArthur Award. Her work on cracking the neural code has been described in numerous peer-reviewed publications, BBC’s “The Genius Behind…”, the Discovery Channel, Scientific American, National Geographic, and TED.
