Shannon Sheppard, PhD

Dr. Sheppard is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and speech pathologist in the SCORE Lab. She received her PhD in Language & Communicative Disorders from the Joint Doctoral Program at University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University. Her current research examines longitudinal behavioral and neurological changes resulting from right hemisphere strokes or neurodegenerative diseases with a focus on emotional prosody deficits. The overarching aim of her research is to gain an understanding of the underlying language and cognitive deficits resulting from stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s Disease and Frontotemporal Degeneration, which lead to Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA).
