Dr. Callaghan, the Fovette E. Dush early career professor of neurology, has two main research interests, the epidemiology of peripheral neuropathy and neurology health services research. He has over 70 peer- reviewed publications including more than 30 first author and 10 last author publications. He has received a NIDDK R-01 grant, a VA CSR&D Merit grant, a NIH K23 grant, a University of Michigan Diabetes Interdisciplinary Study Program grant, a NIH T32 grant, an American Diabetes Association Junior Faculty Award, and funding from the American Academy of Neurology. He also collaborates on a Novo Nortus Foundation grant. He serves as the co-section editor for the Innovations in Care Delivery website for the Neurology journal. Dr. Callaghan is actively involved in the American Academy of Neurology, serving on the Guideline Development, Dissemination, and Implementation committee and the Health Services Research subcommittee. He previously served as the diabetic neuropathy chair for the scientific sessions meeting planning committee of the American Diabetes Association, He also served as the co-chair for the health services research special interest group for the American Neurological Association.
